This document is designed to assist those wishing to undertake a time criticality and dependency analysis exercise. Although it covers a wide range of resources, the user can of course increase the scope of the document by adding extra sections.

At the rear of the document is both an example framework, designed to demonstrate how the results of the analysis could be used to assist in the actual planning process. Also included are a number of definitions to simplify matters.

Time Criticality Analysis

NOTE: For consistency, time criticality is described in terms of three distinct scenarios:

INCONVENIENT DISRUPTION
This is disruption to non-key activities of the users of the system or business service. There is some impact upon normal service to internal or external third parties.
MAJOR DISRUPTION
This is disruption to one or more key activities of the users of the system or business service. Only limited service can be provided to internal or external third parties.
CRITICAL DISRUPTION
This is disruption to the operations of the users of the system or business function such that these activities may not be continued. No service can be provided to internal or external third parties.
